1. Walk the Historic Loop, Our favorite part of Eureka Springs. There are hills, and old sidewalks, but the beauty of the architecture, the fanciful gardens, and the endless rock retaining walls will charm you and make you smile in our quirky little town. Look everywhere, there are unexpected surprises.

2. You’ve got to walk the crooked streets and sidewalks downtown to enjoy our unique locally owned art galleries and shops. No mall stores here! Shops & Galleries

3. A visit to GotaHold Brewery and Just Bee Coffee will let you relax and enjoy the outdoors we all appreciate here in Eureka Springs. Visit with the owner and master brewer, they have indoor and outdoor seating and live music regularly. Something for everyone! https://gotahold.beer/

4. There are two Food trucks within walking distance of the Heartstone Inn, and their creative juices will get yours going! Authentic Mexican @ Carmen’s Tacos will leave you wanting to try all of their offerings. The sandwiches @ Outer Limits, not to mention the French fries 10 different ways (Parmesan Truffle Fries anyone?), or the special of the week, we can’t get enough!

5. Beaver Lake – Go for the day, go for the sunset, go for the fishing, go for the sun! Drive over the dam, visit the overlook, visit the White River that flows from it. A beautiful spot!

6. The Springs. There are upwards of 60 natural springs within Eureka Springs’ city limits, many tucked away in small caves, nooks, and crannies. As our name suggests, springs have played a large part in the history of Eureka Springs. Blue Springs is one of our largest and a tranquil place to visit. Blue Spring Heritage Center

We’re a Certified Wildlife Habitat!

NWF Certifies New Wildlife Habitat in Eureka Springs

Local business making a difference to protect wildlife

national wildlife federation

Eureka Springs, Arkansas –April 9, 2015. The National Wildlife Federation® (NWF) is pleased to recognize that the Heartstone Inn Bed and Breakfast in Eureka Springs has successfully created an official Certified Wildlife Habitat™ site. NWF celebrates the efforts of  Rick and Cheri Rojek to create a garden space that improves habitat for birds, butterflies, frogs and other wildlife by providing essential elements needed by all wildlife – natural food sources, clean water, cover and places to raise young.

“Providing a home for wildlife in our communities – whether it’s at home, or in schools businesses or parks – is the demonstration of a healthy and active eco-system. There is no more rewarding way to stay connected to nature right outside your door,” said David Mizejewski, naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation.

“We enjoy watching the birds, squirrels and wildlife visit our backyard, and wanted to do our part to help. We have redesigned our yard to make it more inviting to wildlife and provide habitat elements necessary for wildlife to thrive.” said Cheri Rojek.

NWF’s Certified Wildlife Habitat program has been helping people take personal action on behalf of wildlife for more than 40 years. The program engages homeowners, businesses, schools, churches, parks and other institutions that want to make their communities wildlife friendly.

This new certified habitat joins NWF’s roll of more than 150,000 certified habitats nationwide. Wildlife habitats are important to year-round wildlife residents as well as species that migrate, such as some birds and butterflies. Each habitat is unique for both beauty and function.

People who create a Certified Wildlife Habitat receive a one-year subscription to the award-winning National Wildlife magazine, a personalized certificate and quarterly e-newsletters with tips for improving their habitat for wildlife. They also are eligible to purchase NWF’s special outdoor sign designating their yard or garden as wildlife-friendly.

For more information on gardening for wildlife and details on how an entire community can become certified, visit www.nwf.org/habitat or call 1-800-822-9919. The mission of the National Wildlife Federation is to inspire Americans to protect wildlife for our children’s future.

Fun @ Dogwood Canyon Nature Park

Segway Tour
Segway Tour

Rick and I recently took some time to enjoy this beautiful area that we live in. One area quite close to Eureka Springs is Dogwood Canyon Nature Park. It is  about 30 minutes north of town, on the way to Branson, MO. 10,000 acres of nature preserve owned by the Bass Pro folks. There are many, many things to do here. We had fun on the Segway Tour. You arrive at the park, there is a café to get a quick lunch if you like. We had a short course on how to ride a Segway, (it is really easy), and off on our guided tour of the park. We drove past waterfalls, wedding chapel, trout fishing streams, more waterfalls, through covered bridges, over stone bridges, past caves, and ended up at the Glory Hole. This is a beautiful pool with waterfall and huge trout. It was very fun and we plan on doing it again on an even longer trail!

Besides the Segway Tour, you can walk or rent a bicycle to travel the paved trails. There is horseback riding at their stables, a tram or jeep tour of more of the acreage. You can fish from the banks of the river, or go deeper into the park with a guide. This area will be absolutely beautiful this fall! Ask us and we can help you make your plans.
